Beewitched : FIG AND FAUNA

Beewitched

by fig + fauna farm on 05/28/12

We don't have a television, but we have bees ~ and on a Friday night, when we're looking for excitement, we don't have to walk far to see the greatest show in real time. Smoke signals and the secret language of bees, makes for a perfect mystery show.

Does anyone know a song or poem about bees? Our daughter has decided that if the dear bees must not be touched, a song or a poem is a must!

The song that popped into my mind is not specifically about bees but makes me think of them. It's Return to Pooh Corner by Kenny Logins

Hello. I have a little poem for you: THE PEDIGREE OF HONEY, by Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) "The pedigree of honey Does not concern the bee; A clover, any time, to him Is aristocracy." And a song for the little lady: THE BEE, (German Folk Song) Written By: Unknown Adapted By: Terry Kluytmans Copyright © 1998 KIDiddles.com http://www.kididdles.com/assets/songs/music/b048.mid "Oh, say, busy bee, Where now are you going? Where now are you going, To work or to play? I'm bound for the garden Where roses are blooming For I must be making Sweet honey today." I hope you enjoy. Have a great week! :) Luzia

Here's another poem by Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) BEE Like trains of cars on tracks of plush I hear the level bee: A jar across the flowers goes, Their velvet masonry Withstands until the sweet assault Their chivalry consumes, While he, victorious, tilts away To vanquish other blooms. His feet are shod with gauze, His helmet is of gold; His breast, a single onyx With chrysoprase, inlaid. His labor is a chant, His idleness a tune; Oh, for a bee's experience Of clovers and of noon! Love your site by the way. . .lots of naturally gluten-free and healthy options for my family. Keep it up.

my mom spent a year in scotland tending bees, there was one honey company called "tell the bees" where they firmly {bee}lieved in singing, and telling the bees poems...she never shared any poems or such but a quick google search might give you some folklore to tell the bees! xo kristin faded prairie

i adore honeybees and often dream of my own little hive once i have a big(ger) yard. since its a love song, it may not be appropriate for a little girl, but maybe when she's older you can sing with her zee avi's honey bee. the melody and her voice are quite sweet :)

While this does not exactly qualify as a song, nor a poem, it was written a long while back, and is called "Just B", you can read the letter here (http://so-much-more-than-nl.blogspot.com/2010/06/just-b.html), and I for one just love the sweetness :) Enjoy
